“District 6 is rich and diverse, with a history filled with untold stories. Our neighborhoods embody the spirit of Detroit."

Councilwoman Raquel Castañeda-López

WE ARE DISTRICT 6

District 6 is believed to be one of Detroit’s most diverse areas, combining the cultures of Southwest, Corktown, and Midtown. The southwest area contains a strong Hispanic population, along with African American and Middle Eastern. Midtown is believed to be the town of the strongly developing millennial population. Wayne State University is one of Detroit’s larger universities that resides in Midtown. This area is also rich in cultural arts. Corktown is one of Detroit’s historic neighborhoods and is one of the oldest. It contains styles of Colonial Revival, Late Victorian, and Federal.
