DISTRICT 6

WE ARE DISTRICT 6

District 6 is believed to be one of Detroit’s most diverse areas, combining the cultures of Southwest, Corktown, and Midtown. The southwest area contains a strong Hispanic population, along with African American and Middle Eastern. Midtown is believed to be the town of the strongly developing millennial population. Wayne State University is one of Detroit’s larger universities that resides in Midtown. This area is also rich in cultural arts. Corktown is one of Detroit’s historic neighborhoods and is one of the oldest. It contains styles of Colonial Revival, Late Victorian, and Federal.

Gabriela Santiago-Romero is the Detroit City Council Member for District 6. She currently serves on the Budget, Finance & Audit Standing Committee, and is the first Latina to ever chair a standing committee, Public Health & Safety.
